Design of Archaeological Galleries of the Kushan-Ikshvaku and Gupta period, National Museum, New Delhi (2003)

The proposal for “modernisation” of museum galleries involved content research, categorisation (grouping) and sequencing of objects. As the gallery spaces was a given, the design achieved variation in spaces through ceilings, floor levels and partitions with integrated lighting and signage to make the visitor subtly sense the rhythm with appropriate pauses and transitions.

Under the modernisation program, a kiosk design was also proposed for use at public places like airports and railway stations.

Currentissues analysis
Adaptive modular design of three individual units housing a computer terminal, an events poster and a display unit to exhibit replicas of museum objects. The form was a result of modular need, anthropometrics, ergonomics, transit-zone usage scenarios, branding, co-branding and symbolism as applicable to Indian masses.
