Cafe and Restaurant, International Roerich Memorial Trust, IRMT, Naggar, Kullu, Himachal Pradesh (2004)

This project comprised of designing restaurant spaces including the kitchen in a newly built given building at the IRMT campus overlooking the town of Naggar in the Kullu valley. The cues for design being Roerich’s paintings, his legacy, the wonderful Himalayan setting and a stringent budget, we designed the restaurant with furniture derived from Roerich’s repertoire and ambiance derived from Buddhist temples. The tables and chairs were custom made to the detail of using particular pinheads for upholstery and specific tiles for tables at Delhi, manufactured and transported to Kullu due to unavailability of skilled craftsmen in the area.
