The Housing studio design problem comprised of two family types (Professional and Business). The bubble diagrams and the resulting alternative studies of form triggered me to explore “all” possibilities that the bubble held. The permutations and combinations naturally developed into structural families and I set evaluation criteria to first narrow down 26 and then eventually one master design. This design was then developed for the professional family type, while the business type developed through a free design methodology.
Professional vs. Business family types meant different social pattern and thus different bubble diagrams. Different social usage of space and conceptually reverse access and privacy concerns, resolved into the site plan of a shared common space and separate entrance approaches – one through the social space, while the other separate from it.
